Friend, we've all had bad days. Some worse than others. But, some have fallen through the cracks of life landing in a hard place. For some, there appears to be no return. We've ran into some of them.
We've crossed the street so we don't have to pass them by or give them that dime they ask for..."sir...ma'am...can you spare some change"? We turn our nose up or quiver in fear trying not to look too hard at them.
They're just afraid, cold, and hungry. Sometimes they sleep on the bus bench or the park bench or try to find a warm place under a piece of cardboard or under a bridge, or a dry tunnel to get out of the elements at night.
They stake out a place near an off or on ramp with a sign that reads "will work for food". You'll see someone give them some change or maybe a couple of bills...but not you. Your too proud to give hand outs. "These bums got some nerve asking me for money" you think to yourself
The hardest ones to take are the ones who have a child stand with them for effect...that'll get to you if you're not too thick skinned.
You might be asking yourself... "how do I know so much about them"?
I WAS one of them, That's right, I was once homeless, sleeping on a park bench, on a bus bench, only to be chased away by the cops. "HEY! WAKE UP! YOU CAN'T SLEEP HERE! IT'S AGAINST THE LAW!"
I got up and I moved on....I had to find another place till the sun came up.
True, that was a long time ago, but I will never forget it. I landed on my feet by the grace of God. But not everyone does.
Today, most often than not, I give those hand outs. I see myself in all of them and remember how it was then compared to how it is now.

Hello everyone....let's review your life.....
Starting from the age of 25...(you may be there now or past that) never the less you've had a dream, or you have a dream about what you want to be...or what you want or wanted to do or become in life or your lifetime ..your career, work.. education etc. some of you made it (about 3% of you), but more often than not most of you/us never get to live "the dream life". If you happen to be young enough to take charge of your future, you are one of the few blessed ones if you act now.
Let me tell you why. It is a proven fact that 97% of every one who reaches the age of 65 years old (if they make it that far) will be dead or dead broke living of of social security + a pension, equalling less than 2 thousand dollars a month (that's the poverty level). The other 3% are living "THE DREAM LIFE".
And, here's a news flash....." Alert! Alert! Alert! PENSIONS HAVE DISAPPEARED AND SOCIAL SECURITY IS NOT FAR BEHIND" Social security is quickly running out. What? You have an IRA, a 401K, a CD or some ether market linked product? Google them or research them and see how they have performed over the past 20 years. Don't just take someone's word for it, not even your advisor or even me.
Or not! in fact you can stop reading this blog and continue on the same path of failure, settling for what the government tells you, gives you and let's you have after they take their cut of your hard earned money ( in the form of taxes, penalties, and fees) that caused you a lot of blood sweat tears, and heartache etc.
WAKE UP! STEP OUT OF THE DARKNESS! YOU HAVE TO DO SOMETHING NOW IN ORDER TO LAND ON YOUR FEET SUCCESSFULLY WHEN OR BEFORE RETIREMENT HITS!!!!
Do what the 3% have been taught to do from the time they were children. 1. Protect your #1 asset.
(It's not anything you just thought of) Your #1 asset is you or your ability to work or bring home an income. How? Life insurance that's how! According to LIMRA 65% of all americans do not have life insurance, and 30% of those who do have it, don't have enough and need more. Most people are not even aware that Life Insurance is not for your protection, but your families protection and well being should something happen to you (God forbid).. How many people do you know had to have a car wash to help bury a loved one? 2. The 3% have cash on hand (insurance has evolved today to allow you to build cash TAX FREE). 3. The 3% have available at least 1 year's salary on hand as an emergency fund. and 4. The 3% begin to build an investment portfolio smartly from an early age instead of waiting till they have 10 years of less to go before retirement.Where are you headed?
To determine where you are in the scale of "not outliving you retirement", Ask yourself these 2 questions, "HOW MUCH MONEY HAVE YOU MADE IN YOUR LIFETIME" and "HOW MUCH MONEY HAVE YOU SAVED IN YOUR LIFETIME". if you are in your 30's, you need to have 250k saved in the bank now.....if you are in your 40's you need to have 300k to 400k in the bank saved now......if you are in your 50s you should by now have 500k to 750k in the bank right now......and if you are 65+ you better have at least 1 million sitting somewhere protected and out of the reach of the greedy palms of "UNCLE SAM" now right now so you can land on your feet after retirement. Contrary to popular belief, THERE IS LIFE AFTER RETIREMENT....no....really. Fortunately I am in a position to help you no matter where you are along the path of life.No insurance?
